this morning while i was squeezing and torturing the noo i screamed in his face NIPPY! TOMORROW IS GOING TO BE THE GREATEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE!

maybe not the greatest but he is getting a lot of awesome shit tomorrow. because hes worth it.

today we are going to steves moms. his family does a big big christmas eve- big dinner, all the kids, etc, and santa comes tonight while the kids arent looking. its cool that they do christmas eve as the big celebration because then it kind of opens us up to be able to make our own plans for christmas day. george (steves brother) takes the kids to his wifes family and darlene (steves sister) takes her kid to her husbands family and steve and i will hunker down here with chris and steves mom is coming for dinner. steve is making fried chicken, corn bread, fried pickles, and creamed spinach. i made one million kinds of christmas cookies. im really looking forward to it.

then on saturday papi is coming for our annual holiday visit. we plan on building a smoke house and acting a fool. oh and doing yoga. and watching THIS IS IT. omg i cant wait.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS Y'ALL. I LOVE YOU.

In my junior year of college, there was a girl who made unusual photographs of her family. Each week there were strange photos of her mother laying casually on their couch in her swmsuit, portraits of herself and her mother's boyfriend. I believe in some search to find threads of physical similarities.

She did a set of her and a male friend, standing nude in the Fall/Winter. These were in her wooded backyard, in a town further north in New Jersey than where I lived. Her portraits were cold and intimidating. Behind her and her partner was a large, empty, in-ground pool.

It was as if they had forgotten themselves and tried to find a way back to more comfortable envrions. Like chasing the sun...

I remember how beautiful those photos were every time I see this Fever Ray clip. The sense of childish actions marked with neo-tribalism bring me right back to that photo of the pair and the empty pool. There was something magical going on between them, and all they could do was stare at you to keep you away.

There's a part of me that would almost kill to see those photos again.

I got through Faith and the Muse's cover of Running up That Hill and I remembered how much I loved this set of them, shot by photographer Clovis IV. I think it wasn't so much the shot as both Monica Richards and William Faith look incredible.

The mannish cut of the suit she's wearing is beautiful...I'd love a jacket like that for myself.

my mom told me today that lady bird has been taking naps outside right where helen is buried (next to the koi pond because she was so fond of watching the fish). my mom said she will let birdie outside to hang in the yard (75 and sunny, id be out there all day too) and when she doesnt hear her prancing around for awhile she will go check out the back window and sure enough, thats where she'll be, dozing.

it kills me.

my mom also told me a few weeks ago that my dad came home from home depot with a hand truck and two fifty pound bags of smooth black river rock. whats that for, she asked him. its for the little girl, he said. i dont want anybody to bother her. shes sleeping.

my parents live backed up onto a nature reservoir and coyotes run all through their neighborhood. my dad doesnt want anything to happen to her.

oh helen. i miss you. i really and truly miss you, little girl. we all do.

ProFoto knocked off $50 as a courtesy. Calumet knocked off the shipping charge to get my head back.

So, it's down to $339, flat.

The further down side is that I may not be getting my head back until next year, so now I'll have to hunt for a spare head for a job I have on the 30th.

Wellsir, at least it's not $400 + shipping. I'm proud that I made the effort to bargain and it knocked off nearly $100. I would have prefered something to the tune of two hundred something, but, this is probably the best it will get.

At least by the time it gets here, I'll be able to afford it.

So you get a photo dump. I'm backlogged, so, bear with the unseasonal pictures of seasons.

Back in September... )

In completely unrelated news, hermitage causes me to wax nostalgic. Up on this week's table is the band Deadsy.

Right, so there was once this fabulous time at the start of the century where Elementree Records was expanding into the electronic rock territory. So what you ended up with were boys in eyeliner kicking the shit out of their synths and looking damn good doing it.

So Deadsy was one of the last to do it right, with their low, grumbling guitars and space riffs. I thought this was pretty original and beautiful shit. I mean, they sang about cannibalistic ice queens and being elite. Hell, Elijah Blue showed me prep-school dress could be a damn sexy thing. [might I add, that signature eye roll of his is quite sexy].

What I find funny all these eight years later is that they're a step above a Rush cover band. If their cover of Tom Sawyer didn't clinch it for me then, then it does now.

Anyways, I spent my Saturday streaming that record off LaLa and now I shall have to hunt it down and rip it to my iPod.

Proof I need to get out of the house more.

Anyways, for those of you still left reading, I'll leave you with Mansion World, one of my favorite tracks. Keeping with the themes of elitism, beauty and fucking up the system without smudging your makeup, Elijah Blue's voice groans over the grinding electric guitars. It's strangely sensual.

i just took out my tongue ring. i woke up and all at once just HAD IT. from time to (rare) time it would cause me a lot of pain on the roof of my mouth- i think i would scrape it while i slept or something, i dont know- it would always be excruciating for a day or two and then stop as suddenly as it started. well this morning i woke up and it was SO PAINFUL and i just had ENOUGH. i had tried to take it out before but could never loosen the damn thing. well good thing i remembered that we possess not one but two pairs of needle nosed pliers. there i was, first thing in the morning, leaning over the bathroom mirror with one plier clamped on the top and one clamped on the bottom, gripping and twisting. worked like a charm.

i cant believe i had that motherfucker for seven years. i cant believe im about to be thirty one.

jesus christ.

I got a call back from Calumet, on the state of my dead 7B head...$400 for repair.

I don't quite know what to do. If I wait until next month's AMEX cycle, I can put in on the card and pray fo the best...but at this rate, I'll never get out of debt.

I should call ProFoto and see how far I can get with bargaining and doing all those terrible things customers do to avoid paying for shit, but I've always been bad at that.

I don't have anything I could sell to offset the cost, save for taking on more sessions. I don't have a high-paying job scheduled until February.

This came at a real shit and strangely ironic time. The reason for me never using that head in the first place was that I only had one stand. My friend Jack had recently scored me two more stands, and now I have just one working head.

What a sonofabich, eh?

The upcoming film I shot for, Bedfellows, now has a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bedfellows/175519712956

The two black and white images of director Pierre Stefanos were shot by me.

This was my first multi-location shoot. It was quite a bit of fun. The story is really delightful, and I hope it does well as it goes through the festival circuit.

Please check out the page and become a fan of this great short film.

Thanks, guys.
